Susanne Jackson
Southwestern Artist

Susanne Jackson grew up in New Mexico with a love for the Hispanic and Indian cultures, and an admiration for the original Taos Artist Society.  Her talent was recognized at an early age by her drawings and she entered several local shows.  When she graduated from Albuquerque High School, she received two art scholarships.  She attended the Santa Fe School of Art and the McNay Art Institute.  She majored in Art at Midwestern University and studied under Dr. Bodkin who later became Art Director of UCLA.  While pursuing her passion she has studied with several outstanding artist including Bill Kalwick, Dan Garhartz, Tom Browning, Matt Smith, Quang Ho, Ralph Oberg and HongNain Zhang.

Jackson raised two daughters and went back into the workforce at age forty, focused on the graphic arts.  At age fifty she began what became a multi-million dollar graphic art business called Houston Creative Connections (HCC).  HCC won many awards locally and nationally.  She has been named among Houston's Top Women Business Owners for five years and was also named one of Texas's Top Business Women.

While a business owner, her travels nationally allowed her to paint in New Mexico, Colorado, Arizona, Utah, Texas, Maine, Alaska and Hawaii.  Her international travels also influence her painting: Central America, South America, Europe, Japan and China.  Even as a busy CEO, Jackson developed a strong style in her oils.  Her portraits like her landscapes are based on representational style with a creative edge.  She has shown in Santa Fe, San Antonio, Amarillo and Houston while selling to several business and private collectors.

After decades of operating a successful business,  Susanne is now able to design her future around her first love of painting.  Her studio in Houston demonstrates her creativity, flare for design and her love for the southwest.

She is a member of Women in the Arts, Washington, D.C., Outdoor Painters Society, Houton Civic Art Association and Houston Museum of Fine Arts.  She is also a lifetime member of the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo and is a judge on the School Art Comimittee.  She has been listed in several Who's Who and is currently listed in Who's Who in the World and Who's Who in America.
